The story behind this shirt
Denmark's top personal income tax rate of 55.9 percent applies to every krone above 1.3 times the average wage, and its 25 percent VAT raises 9.1 percent of GDP. The U.S. top rate does not start until 8.8 times the average wage, and sales taxes here raise 2.1 percent of GDP. The front print says "Higher taxes swap for premiums you already pay." and, under it, the address of the Democratic socialism page on this site, where the claim sits with its evidence, the best case against it, and the answer.
